Second Planning Meeting will be at 6:30 pm on May 11 -- just prior to our regular club meeting!
Near East Hill Elementary School, Off Parsons Road in Camillus.
Field Day is an opportunity for Ham Radio operators to practice skills needed during an emergency. The Field Day team will assemble stations in a field location, using portable generators for power, and then commence making as many contacts as possible in a 24 hour period. We will be demonstrating many types of communications technologies, from Morse Code (CW), to voice (SSB), and digital (computer to computer over the air) communications.
The RAGS Field Day operation will be located at the Camillus Ski Lodge in Camillus, NY. We will begin setup at 8:00am on Saturday, and actual operation will begin at 2:00pm.
Field Day operation will run from 2:00pm Saturday to 2:00pm Sunday. We will be running four stations continuously during that period, as long as we have operators available. We will be running one digital station (PSK31 and RTTY), one CW station, and two SSB stations. We welcome anyone to come and operate these stations during the contest hours. If you are a licensed Ham, you can operate within your operating privileges independently, or if you are unlicensed (or would like to operate at higher privilege level), you can operate under the watchful eye of one of our higher class operators. (Of course, all of our operators are high-class!!)
We will be primarily operating indoors within the ski lodge, but since the lodge is not air-conditioned, we will likely be operating with the windows open. We will have bathroom facilities at our disposal, and a kitchen for food preparation.
We will be serving lunch (during setup) and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. A small food donation will be encouraged to help cover our costs. All participants are welcome.
Please come out and join us!!
